It has narrow streets lined with half-timbered, now crooked, (wooden-frame) houses.

The Knights of the Templar were founded in Paynes, 15 km away.

Joan of Arc and at the time, Dauphin Charles (future King Charles VII) entered the City of Troyes riding side by side.
